Is there anything I can do about getting blisters on my hands? I do not have any money now for some gloves, but they are getting really bad. I was doing deadlifts yesterday and busted some blisters. What can I do to take the pain away from these busted blisters?

Nothing, deal with it. Blisters are a gift. Gloves are for pussies.

:laugh: LOL hec .... crispy you know the answer before you posted the question.. only thing thats going to stop you from getting blisters is some kinda "protection" .. aka gloves.. just look around your house im sure youll find something

If you don't want to use gloves you need to take a little time to allow your hands to heal. As the blisters heal you will grow thicker skin in those areas preventing blister formation in the future. However, in the future I would suggest that you stop doing an exercise before you get blisters. You should also look for ways to reduce the friction against your palm. There should be a lot of movement of the bar in your hand.
What exercise are you getting blisters from? I know you busted one on deadlifts, but what formed them.

Are they blisters(fluid filled sacs)? Or are they calluses? If you can not get gloves use lifting chalk most sport stores sell it for about 10 for a box of four bricks. I got some last janurary and I am still on the first brick...just rub it on your hands and the chalk will help ease the friction. However if it is blisters let them heal and get some gloves....work gloves work as well or better than the lifting gloves...I find the lifting gloves strecth, and rip way to easy.

I meant there should not be a lot of movement between your hand and the bar.

No they don't have any fluid, so I guess they are calluses. And Daniel I really don't know what has caused them. I didn't even notice them until I busted them yesterday. So I guess I will get some chalk and hopefully it will help. Thanks.
By the way Detox, I did know a solution to my problem, but I was wondering if there were any other alternatives (such as the chalk from mutt). Why else would I post this topic? I do not like to where gloves for one, and right now do not have the money. If you don't have any constructive advice I really would appreciate if you don't respond to any of my post in the future.

If they are caluses, and not blisters, than that is pretty normal. To some extent you want them, because that is where your hand is receiving extra pressure. One of the things you can do to keep them from ripping off is to keep your hands moist. I hate doing it, and don't, but a little moisturizer each day will keep them more soft and less brittle, hopefully keeping the from tearing.

Thanks Daniel. I will just let them callus over, and work through the stinging. I just see me putting on moisturizer either.

Just to be clear I was not advocating continuing to lift with wounds on your hands. I agree before you do anything you need to let your hands heal or wear bandages.

I think that using a towel will help pretty well also. But it might be a little slippery.
