Okay, so I get on the scales this morning for my semi-weekly weigh-in. (Enough hyphens?) Anyhow, I'm up FIVE pounds! Now, my pants aren't fitting any tighter, but I'm trying to cut my bf% and weight...not gain it. I'm eating like I should (according to the calculator here), and come up a little short on carbs and total calories, but it's tough to get in what the thing asks for. I'm trying to do this for a play where the character I want has to appear in a tank top with tatoos and do some exercises. So, he has to be fairly buff. Is my panic too soon? What's that lean, muscular guy trapped inside me to do?

First I'd like to say that your use of hyphens is beautiful and I don't think you should worry about that.
List a typical days nutrition here so we can see if it needs tweaking. How many calories are taking? Are you lifting?

Why, thanks anni! Punctuation is so over-looked these days. (Aahhh...another one!)
I am lifting five days a week and doing cardio afterwards. I'm on the Increase Lean Mass program.
This one day was 3,794 cals 280 g protein 490 carbs and 56 fats. The calculator says: 4,258 cals 274 protein 685 carbs
and 52 fats.
Okay, here's Thursday:
Breakfast
1 Whole Egg
Four Egg Whites
2 cups Quaker Oats
1 Sliced Banana
2 Tbsp Sugar-Free Syrup
1 Cup 1% Milk
Snack
4 oz sliced turkey
1 orange
1 Tri-O-Plex bar
Lunch
6 oz chopped chicken
1/2 cup dry (but then cooked) brown rice
1 cup frozen peas and carrots
Snack 2/Pre-Workout
Detour Bar
Post-Workout
ON Shake mixed and drank the way we all do
Dinner
1 can water-packed chunk tuna
4 oz dry (then cooked) pasta spirals
1 cup green peas
2 tsp fat free mayo
That's it. The same kind of schedule every day. Basically the same stuff. Some beef every now and then. One day a week (usually Saturday) I let myself have some ice cream, chinese food, pizza, or something I have been craving. There you go!

I think that you have been working very hard at this and your diet seems to be very good, WAnglais1, and the scale can be deceiving. I know you are doing too good to go off half-crazy and dive into a bowl of Oreo's and Ice Cream so I would suggest not getting too excited and recheck your calories - maybe it is time for an adjustment - but you said your clothes are fitting fine and that is a good indicator that the scale isn't showing all you need to know. But, anyway, it is good that you are doing so well and keeping aware of any changes, some of us just ignore it until a button bursts! I'll bet you will do GREAT in your new play with your new character, don't forget to keep us informed of how it goes!!

Thanks, veda. The show isn't for a bit. A few months, to be exact. I'm just trying to get ready because the director told me, "You know, he's kinda buff."

Hey man good job so far. My advice is to rethink eating that many calories. It is a fine line indeed between too much not enough and just right. That said as diet is not my forte, in my experience if you are working out and the pants still fit the same and the scale says you gained then it is muscle you have gained. My advice is to throw out the scale since that can not really rate BF. Get a cloth measureing tape and measure the waist once every 2 weeks or so. Keep lifting hard and heavy eat clean and it will happen. If you want to talk more IM me here.
