Hey, Im irish and as it says in my profile I play hurling. I don't know if any of you have heard of it but apparently it's similar to LaCrosse(excuse the spelling if it is wrong) and I was wondering what kind of weights program would be suited to this sport.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Well its a team game, each team containing 15 men. It's played on a field about the same size as a rugby field. It also has goalpoasts like on a rugby pitch. Each player has a stick(hurley), its like a hockey stick but the boss of the hurley is a bit bigger. The hurley is used to hit a small ball (looks like a baseball) into the goal. The goalposts have a crossbar so if the ball is hit over the bar thats 1 point and under the bar thats 3 points(the underside is much smaller). The ball cannot be picked up by hand, however it can be picked up using the hurley or caught if it is in flight.. The player can strike the ball using the hurley or go on a run by placing the ball on the hurley. It's a very physical game and can get very heated.
As you can tell I'm really bad at describing it. If you want more information on hurling you can look at this Gaelic games website.

This may explain it better.
Hurling is one of the irish national sports and is run by the Gaelic Athletic Association(GAA)
It's also the fastest field game in the world!!

Well I am a rugby player and have played some laccrose so I can but in some imput. What you need is a good core strength I would say. So work your abs with good weight but not too often, just like anything else. Your best bet would be to work your entire body, the sport is very well-rounded so you need a good upper and lower.
If I had to pick a couple exercises to help you out the most I would say work on your dead lifts and squats.
Hope this helped
