Is it normal to feel violent when you are having really bad cravings?

I'm dying over here with the hormones or whatever it is that is causing me to crave my forbidden foods so badly right now.

I have not struggled like this for the duration of my weight loss and can't quite seem to get it to stop. Yesterday, Hector and I went to the grocery and by the time we left, I felt so angry that I was almost in tears. I must have had 50 different foods running in circles through my head and this twisted little voice trying to rationalize giving in.

Even this morning, the sweet potato pie that my mother sent home for us to take to Hector's mother is the only thing I can think about.

Am I sad sap or what?

Sorry, I just needed to vent.

do you have a cheat meal or day julienne?

I usually feel I can manage the cravings, knowing I'll be allowed the foods soon.

violent feelings are normal from time to time....how you handle them is another matter....you can sublimate your negative impulses into positive actions....for example you can take anger and use it by taking a boxing class, and punching a bag...hence getting healthy/exercise, and managing your stress from the anger in a meaningful way...

anger can be a great motivator...

our weaknesses/desires can be overwhelming at times...but instead of having to rationalize it for why it's ok to give in....try thinking about how it's bad for your health, think about all the negative things that are part of those foods...ie ingredients(fat, saturated fat, trans fat, sodium, etc), try visualizing how you would like to look, and how this is just an obstacle standing in your way....a tiny little hurdle that you can easily step over...a way to extend your life and experience more things in your children's and grandchildren's lives....try to put it in a big picture....

When you go to stores, try to avoid candy sections, and junk food sections.....stores often place panels of impulse buys at the/near the counter so watch for that(i work at walgreens so i know...always got some crap up by the register)...

as princess has suggested...it's good to have 1 cheat day a week....try to eat maybe small portions of certain foods you avoid during the week...this can serve as a motivator...and perhaps prevent these feelings of being overwhelmed when you encounter them at a store....

Yes, I have my cheat meals....and I don't give in to the cravings. I guess it just makes me angry that it is bothering me so much right now.

And don't worry....I'm not taking my frustrations out on anybody else.

Have you tried simply smelling the foods you are craving? I LOVE sausage, but due to my gallbladder issues, I can't eat it. On the rare occasion that we hit a McDonald's for breakfast my husband get's a sausage egg mcmuffin, and just knowing that's what he is getting makes my mouth water and my tummy grumble. I ask him to let me smell his sandwich 2-3 times(this makes for a very funny scene if we are actually inside) and the smelling usually makes me feel like I had the sausage (taste is like 90% smell or something like that) Might want to try it and see if it works for you too!

I hate their salad dressing - all but one has more calories than the big mac, I think. So a avoid going there unless I happen to have my own dressing & do take out - which I do when my boys are in school & go eat at the park then I get motivative to walk a lap around which is a mile

We usually go there for breakfast as a treat when we go to visit our daughter in seattle. Other than that, fast food is a big no no for me....still trying to get my husband to believe it's a no no for him too!

Sorry you are struggling so much, it probably won't help your cravings much, but I just wanted you to know that you are a great person to have around here and as well as you do with this healthy living, I'm sure you'll fight your way through it and be done with it soon. Congrats again on making your 145 goal!

I would buy the book for him, but he doesn't read. We did watch Super Size Me, and he didn't eat any fast food for a month which was a huge acomplishment, but, he got really hungry one day and slipped back into fast food land. I know it's not the best for him, but at least on the days he does eat it, he is getting closer to the correct amount of calories, protien and carbs.
