you can still move the weight fast, without taking a ridesoslly long amount of time to rep. Not being sore doesn't mean your not getting a good work out.
By going slow your concentrating on the esentric contractions......that is the negative or downward phase of the lift. You do and can damage more muscle fibers this way, however I dont' like it cause if you train slow, thats how your muscles will work, slow.
