Ok...i have a question...im pretty flexible as i can reach my toes with no problem...and am able to kick my leg up over my head ...but the thing is i want to walk on as a punter at UNI in iowa next year...and my leg strenth is there....its just when i go to kick the ball my leg stops at shoulder height...and i know it needs to be higher..is it my hammies...groin, gluteas that i should be stretchin...and are there things i can do to improve this... im hopin there maybe some dancers out there that can help me or anyone else for that matter...im just runnin out of things to do...and would like some second opinions... thanks everyone!:cool:

well I have an idea that will help you stretch, girls use it on the cheerleading team.
there are 3 kinds of splits
middle splits, feet in a v sape in front of you.
right splits, left leg behind you ,right leg in front
left splits right leg behind, left in front.
you can do the right/left splits, make sure your hips are square, or as much as possible, that means hips should be straight across perpendicular to the floor, unlike diagnolly like most people.
Next once you master that, put you feet or ancle on somthing about 3 or 4 in high, that will increase the stretch. of the groin and hammy's.

Yeah....ill work those into my routine..thanks man! How often do they do their stretches...cause it seems if i skip a week im back where i started flexability wise. How many times a day, how long do they hold them etc. Thanks again.

Richard you could the method that our Carolina Panther pro bowl punter Todd Saurbrun uses. That is lot's of heavy drinking, driving 65 in a 35 mile zone without your drivers license and capping off the night with a DUI. He kicks pretty good.

well, most are flexable to begin with, cause they have been cheering for 5 + years, and others have been in gymnastics and stuff since they where even smaller, so alot of it has to do I guess naturally. i'd do it maybe 20mins a day just to try and get ahead, 10 in morning, and 10 before bed.

And remember to only stretch AFTER you have warmed up. NEVER stretch cold muscles. Eventually, when you skip a week, you'll notice that your revert-to flexibility is a lot better than now.
