Bowflex had a big recall going on. Better check this out before you buy. Apparantely the backs of the bench were coming off or something.

yep, big recall. two to be exact. the tower and then the incline bench legs both break when pushed to the extreme. i've had a bowflex for 3 years i believe, it's great but yet not the best. i don't mean to rip on the bowflex but its got its got more downs then ups. it does build strength and muscle but it's not the same as free weights. i'll just give an example that just happened recently:
bowflex- i can bench 230lb with ease.
machine- equivalent to bowflex.
barbell- cut nearly in half.
reason? stabilizer muscles were weak. bowflex is very similar to machines, very frequently you have to have a fixed motion for it to work properly causing weak stabilizers.
i'm not saying nay to bowflex, its very convenient. you do build strength and muscle and great cardio and easy to use, just mix it up a bit with free weights.
-------------- I cut down trees
I eat my lunch
I go to the la-va-tree
On Wednesdays I go shopping,
and have buttered scones for tea.

i actually have to sell the damn things, so be ABSOLUTELY sure this is the piece of equipment you NEED before spending thousands of bucks on something that you may never like. have you ever actually demoed any of the models? if not i strongly recommend doing so before making any decisions. if you need more info on it let me know.

My sister-in-law bought a Bowflex and we tried it, but didn't not like it so we bought a CrossBow by Weider instead and really like it! It's cheaper and computerized!
