Just looking for more input. I had asked if it I could still expect to see gains and improvement by just using one side of a machine on bench press and leg press.
Can this be worthwhile and more importantly safe as long as I keep proper form and dont lean into one side too much?

I know, I know. I should join a gym. But I really can't afford it and the weight room at my apartment complex is so convenient. The machine they have is old and out out of date, but I've found that with a little imagination I can do everything I need on it (chest, biceps, triceps, shoulders, lats, traps, stomach, thighs, gluts, hams, calves, ect...)
However I've just about used up all of my weight for bench and leg press. So again, is it ok to just use one side of your body for these exercises?

Thanks alot for any input.

Can you re-phrase that question a bit? "One side" of a machine on bench press and leg press????

Yes sir, thank u for responding.

What I meant was just using one arm or leg for bench press and leg press. Sorry... I should have thought more about my wording.

Thanks in advance bb1fit

Brandon, if you can use the machine safely with one arm or leg, you basically double the weight. Be sure there isn't a balance problem. If it's safe you'll be ok.

I used to use the leg press machine with just one leg, no problem. Although not because I was running out of weight :) It was a while back so I can't really remember, but I think it was so that my stronger side didn't assist my weaker side

It would be ok, cause I often do one arm altenating bench presses, and leg presses.

However just make sure, that it isn't oputting you in a posistion akward that hurts you more then help.

IF thats boring try this.....change your rest.
for example
bench
100/10 4 sets( after ever set rest only 20 secs or so,your body recovers but nor fully, its called rest pause.

Or try going 100lbs, 90, 80, 70 no rest.( drop set)

Just a few extra things that might help.

where theres a will theres a way.

Lots of folks do one leg presses as a routine. The bench will be a bit harder, as I am sure one side is a bit stronger than the other. This is where a bar comes in handy, it can force your weaker to side to compensate. But, in answer, yes, you can do fine this way. Anything is better than nothing, and consistency will yeild results. Eat a good diet, no matter what you do, this is key.
