Ok heres the deal I have 3 months to lose atleast 100lbs, because I want to be in the Navy which means I have to pass their Physical Fitness Test. The test consists of doing 18 push ups in 3 mins, 65 sit ups in 5 mins, and running 1.5 miles in under 12 mins. I can't do 1 push up or sit up, and I can only run a quarter of a mile. I'm no where near a gym, I walk everyday, and I tend to skip meals. I need help! Please help me I want to be in tip top shape for my Physical Fitness Test!-------------- Help me! I got 3 months and counting! |

Wow 100 lbs in 3 months! thats tuff and not healthy for you to try. First off do not skip meals, if you eat right and more often your metabolism will speed up and thats key to burning fat. Get a bicycle and increase your cardio routine, but see your doctor first BEFORE you do any rigourous routines so you do not harm yourself. Good luck-------------- :dumbbell: Do whats right. Do the best you can. And treat others the way you like to be treated. :dumbbell: |

Welcome to FT... this is a great site for motivation and information... first off, quit skipping meals.. your nutritional profile on this site will tell you about how many calories you need a day... you can lose weight by eating... just watch what you eat... diet is key...
Secondly, pick a fitness routine from the site... it'll go a long way to helping you... Also, bear in mind the average weight loss is about one to two pounds per week... you'll lose more weight in the first couple of weeks due to water loss.. if you don't make the weight loss the first time, keep trying... you'll get there... Remember, eat five to six small meals a day, follow the nutritional plan and fitness plan and do a ton of research on this site and others... you'll reach your goals! -------------- t I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies, for the hardest victory is over self. - Aristotle You have the power to change a life right in your own hands. - Paul Brandt |

patience is what you need as a pound or 2 lose in a week is hardly measurable and easily regainable. go the whole way keep a food and exercise diary(it's online here and free)or write it all- plan your food and your exercise for the week, get the shopping in ready so theres no excuse.
make your goal a couple of pound a week and make your golden rules like; eat 'something' every 2 1/2 hours- call it a meal, eat 3 fruits & 5 vegetable portions daily- calories daily (1200 daily?), maximum 2 slices wholemeal bread, potatoes twice a week, no butter/margarine or just thin on one slice, no sweets, chocolate etc... unless it's a weekly treat on a certain day only??? try it and write about your success or failure here for support and give yourself a motivational statement every day like - my new lifestyle makes me love life more.. |

I'm still working my way out of a situation like yours. 16 years old 6'3 298 pounds. I was disgusted with my weight and couldn't bare the thought of hitting 300 and knew that I would need to move to size 42 pants.
I kept saying to myself that I'd start running tommorow and tommorow came and I'd just say the same thing. I was miserable and one summer night both Rocky 1 and 2 were on. I watched them both and I got soooo god damn pumped it was insane. Rent those movies right now and watch them! To start running do a half mile twice a day. Once you can get to a mile in one run do it once a day, or two. It's a short distance. You need to get into shape where you are fit enough to be able to excerize hard enough to loose weight. Once you can run 1.5 miles in one round at about a 5-6mph pace start going 2 days running 1 day off 2 days running 1 day off etc. Keep moving up the distance until you can hit 2.5 miles. This should take you about 5-6 weeks. 100 pounds in 3 months is impossible. If you work hard enough you should be able to hit 10 pounds a month. That's the pace I'm currently moving at. I'm down from 298 pounds to 266 pounds in 3 months time. Dieting, might be a bit of a shock, I know it was for me. You definently don't have to starve yourself. Work on eating 5-6 Small meals a day consisting of a portion of protein and carbs. a portion is about the size of yourfist (knuckles forward) and 2-3 portions of vegetables through out the day. Get carrot sticks/celery so you can snack on something good. Don't drink juice or Soda, just water and skim milk. The first 2 weeks they determine who is the real deal or just another one of the millions of hopefuls. Use one of the programs on this site for your weight training. I hope I helped, just a bit of wisdom I've aquired on my similar journey. |

I started at 6'3 342.5 and I lost 10 lbs a month until I got down to about 280. Now it's about 5-7 lbs a month. I take a cheat day once a week, but on the other 6 days I am super strict. I eat VERY clean.
I'm currently at 268 now :). 74 lbs gone since Feb 15th 2004. 100 lbs is impossible. Forget about it. I weightlift every other day and do cardio every day I don't weightlift. It's important to lift heavy while you are cutting to minimize muscle loss. |
