Hello! I just signed up, and, as per my budget, got a personalized exercise routine for the home, without weights or machinery.

I'm 30, 5'6" and 232 lbs. Needless to say, I've got some work to do. I just want to make sure I'm doing it right.

So I've been reading the thread about cardio workouts being a crucial component of a good exercise routine, and they've been really helpful as to when the best times to do cardio are, etc., but most of the advice is geared towards those who are working out in gyms.

I know the obvious option for non-gym cardio is jogging or running, but that means I'd have to make a spectacle of myself- a huffing, puffing, red-faced fat chick hauling her sizeable butt down the street at an agonizingly slow pace. Since I must be a huffy-puffy, red-faced fat chick, I'd much rather be one in private.

I'm all for any in-home cardio workout suggestions. I'll dance like a maniac to Wham! if that's what it takes, even if I feel like strangling George Michael after ten minutes. I'll even buy a couple of aerobics or kickboxing videos if anyone can point me to some good ones. But be warned: I will chase, with a broom, the first person who recommends "Sweatin' to the Oldies" or any other Richard Simmons-related product.

All silliness aside, if any of you have a good at-home cardio routine, I'd love to hear about it.

Thank You Muchly,
Sarah Bogtrotter

Welcome to FT Sarah...

Here's what I have at home, a rebounder or mini-trampoline... the thing is great... inexpensive and easily stored out of the way...

Mine was around 35 bucks or so... you can do a ton of exercises on them...

Another good thing is, if you have steps, step-ups... there are all sorts of things you can do that don't cost much money... skip rope, jog on the spot, jumping jacks... or, dance to Wham!

Oh... and I recommend "Sweatin' To the Oldies" because if you chase me with a broom, you'll be doing cardio... haha...

Again, welcome!

Hi Sarah,

Considering yoru profile I would suggest walking. Just start walking away from yoru house for 20 minutes. Then turn around and walk home. A brisk walk would not leave you huffy or puffy. In fact if you can't talk you are trying to hard. a bicycle wouldnt be a bad purchase if you will use it. I own one that rarley sees the light of day.
