Hey All

I am sure my subject wording ain't too crash hot but here goes.

We all have our days were we work out our arms on a Monday and so forth. On some days we do two parts of our bodies (i.e. arms and lets say back).

So the question is does it really matter if you do more than two body parts ?

I only ask this because of time constraints at this time (exams are creeping up etc...) but other wise I do one or two parts for most sessions. Mainly I don't want to start skipping days when it comes going to the gym. I dig going and hate it when I don't make it.

Cheers All

I am no expert, but I think it depends on what your goals are. Check out the different routines on here for that,

If you work different groups of muscles in the same workout, you should not work a muscle out first that is a secondary muscle to a later exercise. For example, don't do arms and then try to do chest, shoulders, or back, as arms are secondary in the latter exercises. If that doesn't make sense, maybe someone else can elaborate or explain it in a different way.

For example, I like to do chest & shoulders together, then back & arms the next day, then legs and torso the third, with one day of rest before starting again. As I said though, it depends on your goals as well. Hope that helps.

Thanks nutritionworks. Got what your saying and I don't do that (note: my post was just an example).

I was just more concerned about the body just failing to work because it maybe exhausted.

as long as you don't do no more than 16 total sets per muscle group.........

bench
10x100
8x120
6x140
6x140
there 4sets
flys
15x20
15x20
12x30
12x30
8 sets
incline db
10x100
10x100
8x150
6x150
12sets
pull overs
10x50
8x60
8x60
8x60
16sets

now in stead of doing 4 excercises of 4 sets(16)
do, 3 excercises of 5 sets, and do one set of somthing till failure.......many many ways

I'd keep arms( small muscles) under 12 total sets.

Of coarse if your powerlifting etc. some things may change, like n.works said, depends on your goals.

hmm...maybe I'm overtraining or something cuz I average at about 20 sets per body part and about 1 minute rest periods.

20s not bad......I wouldn't go in higher than 20

thats just one more excercise with 4 sets.... not to bad.

also theres also exceptions to the rule.......
I often like to do one excercise 10x10 talk about a burn. Or 5x5's many different methods, but those are maily shock techniques

Sometimes it becomes necessary due to scheduling, etc. to do more than 2 bodyparts. If this indeed happens, I would only hit 2 well, and do simply a maintenance workout on the other one you have to work.
