Hi,
My question is pretty simple; can a 14 year old boy lift free weights as part of his training program? If so what would be the ideal weight and how many times should it be repeated. This is a question which I have been dieing to ask, since I haven’t been sure whether or not to include it in my training program because I’ve heard they you can stun your growth. (I’m 6”1 by the way, so height isn’t really a problem). |

No it will not hurt your growth LOL. Unless you lift dumbly. The best thing to do is workout 3x a week doing a total body workout for about 1-2 months to get used to it. Stay light in the weights for about 3-6 months and stay higher in reps(about 10-12) stick wiuth the basic exercises. hope this helps!-------------- LIFT HEAVY! "do you think that 5kg is a suitable weight"
100kg is a suitable weight if you can do it in good form and in the rang of reps your going for. |

wait a minute...smallbig...im 14 yrs old and 100kg is twice my weight!! an average 14 yr old will not be able to lift 100kg unless he was some kind of magic superman with steroids.

febreeze not only is it late but I think you misunderstood what he's saying....100kg is in fact appropriate for someone even if they are 14...because the way he phrased it was 'with good form and in target range'....which is what everyone strives for...
I had big classmates even in middle school....one of my ex-classmates was 6'0 over 200lb at 13....and 6'2 240 by 8th grade....I am sure he could handle the weight... Smallbig wasn't saying it's avg or the norm..he's just saying if you can ....do it....if you can bench 500...why bench 100?... | |
