I have always been "overweight" or chubby pretty much my whole life, :( it seems like I "know" what to do, but just can't, my exercise is fine, but I know its 100% my eating habits thats keeping me from getting to my goals, I have NO willpower whatsoever. I live with my mother-in-law who is obese so there is always HORRIBLE food in the house, and I only work part-time so most of my days go like this... wake up, clean house, eat breakfast, go exercise for a couple hours, come home, eat, eat, eat, eat, until my husband comes home, then we go to the gym, come home, eat and go to sleep... I horrify myself sometimes on how much I eat... And I don't know why, sometimes my body craves it and sometimes I'm bored I think, but if I stay on any sort of strictness for more than a few days I either start haveing REALLY bad cravings or I'm starving... unless I take diet pills of some sort, but I want to fix my problems from within, but I don't know how....

You need to be eating 4 -6 small meals a day. Try to keep them balance and at around 300 calories each. If you can stick with it for about a week, the cravings will start to go away. One easy thing that helps a lot, it to cut soda out of your diet, and drink sparkling flavored water, or mix half fruit juice and half seltzer water. Hope this helps a little!!

:) Hi Crystal, I usually do eat 4-6 meals a day, but for example my breakfast was a bowl of organic cereal~ 250kcal, and 16 oz of soymilk ~ 300kcal, so I've eaten one meal so far and I'm already at 600 kcal, which is 1/3 of my total daily calories... I always eat 150+ grams of protein per day, and I eat a lot of healthy fats and I eat lots of good grains, but I eat all the bad things too, lots of butter, {yuck} and stuff like that, I also drink 3/4 to 1 gallon of water everyday, absolutly no soda, I drink a lot of water, milk, saymilk, and crystal lite... I just eat WAY too much of everything...

if your daily caloric intake is at 1800 cals round about just try decreasing the amount of food you eat in one meal and see if that helps

Another thing to think about, the milk and soymilk that you drink are for the most part giving you a lot of calories without tending to make you full...I would suggest cutting back on one or both of them, and sticking more towards the cystal light and water as your liquids.

 Well right now my cal intake is between 1200 and 3500, usually about 1800-2500. I know I need to decrease my calories or at least keep them constant... =) I'm just not sure how... LoL at least I have a more acurate counting with the nutrition tracker!! I found I WAS miscalculating... but i'm better at that now... The thing is if I eat less at each meal I feel I don't get "full". Also that's good advice about the milk and soymilk, I just drank it to get it gone because my mother-in-law bought it for me... OK and as for my exerscise plan, well my gym membership just expired, so I won't have one for a few weeks, but normally since my husband is a bodybuilder, we lift weights 5x per week, one or two muscle groups per day, abs everyday, and we usually do 15-30 mins of cardio... but early in the morning while he's at work I usually do aditional cardio, either biking or swimming.... :)

Ok... here's what I can see. You need to keep your calorie levels constant. Your body has no idea whether to hold on to what its got(starvation mode) or to let go of it (weight loss) because things are inconsistant. Once you get an even diet, try cutting back on portions, and drink an extra glass of water to help you feel full. On the exersize, I would suggest upping your cardio to 30-45 min 4-5 days a week, continuing with the lifting, and just making sure that they are spaced out enough so as not to counteract each other. Yeesh...hope you enjoy reading!! :)

Yes I enjoy reading and typing... LoL!! So what would you suggest I do to keep from eating all day? That's why I'm so inconsistant... on the days I'm home all I do is eat, when I'm busy my eating habits are more normal. :( I just ate two more meals and it included, chicken~200 cal, kashmir spinach- 200 cals, and chips & sour cream... eeeeewwww, 300 cals... so now for the day I'm probably at around 1400 already... And I've been drinking water all day~ already I'm at 60+oz or so... Also I do a lot of cardio in the morning, usually 1-3 hours but its not consistant... maybe 2-5 x per week...

Set up a schedual for your eating. Example. I get up at 5:15 on a normal basis. I eat at around 6, then eat at 9:30-10, Then eat at 1ish, then eat dinner about 5 or so, and usually have a large glass of milk before bed. If I look at the clock, and it isn't in one of my time frames, I don't eat. You could try something like that and see how it works.

I will try that... do you just start from the time you wake up and count every 3 hours?? I think I would have to do that since my days are so scattered around... LoL I don't have a "normal" basis... would you suggest supplements??

I shoot for every 3-4 hours. Protien bars are good for when you are on the go, and pre-made shakes are great for when you are at home but busy doing housework. Other than that, I try to make the most of what we have around the house. I don't really use any supplements because we are always broke, but I am sure someone else might have some suggestions! :)

If you go for protein bars strive for ones under 200cals. You'd be amazed at how quickly the cals add up. I recommend The half sized detour/oneway/joyride/uturn. THey are all 170 cals and can get you through to that next real meal. Drink lots of water...most people mistake dehydration for hunger (rememebr for ever cup of coffee/tea/caffinated beverage have an added 2 cups of water to replenish. Portion control is key. Use your hand as a guide....I piece of fruit (your fist) is one serving of carbs....a chicken breast about the siz of the palm of your hand is a serving of protein. Check out Bill Phillips Body for life for an easy to follow safe way to do it......I know it works...I followed it and was healthy throughout.
good luck |

I only eat organic all natural foods so protein bars are out of question... LoL, and I do drink about 3/4 to 1 gallon of water per day... I think I just need to take some anti-hunger pills and stay away from sugar and fat... it's just really hard when I'm home all day and its here...
