Will not eating enough calories impede muscle recuperation time and weight loss?
For example, let say I ingest 1400 a day. I also work out 4 days a week lifting and do cardio for 20 mins. 4 times a week.
YES to both... not only will your muscles not have enough nutrition to maximize themselves, but if your not eating enough your body will go into "starvation mode" and your metabolism will slow down... it also matters how tall and what your weight is... male/ female ect... goals, to determine your proper calories per day...
Like puresnowchic said. You need to eat enough to at least maintain your current muscle mass. Otherwise your body will deplete your muscle tissue for energy. By lowering your muscle mass, you in turn slow down your metabolic rate and gain fat easier.
