Just wondering, why do different exercises? What I mean is instead of doing;
lateral raises*3sets
shoulder presses*3sets
front dumbell raises*3
just do shoulder presses*9.
My guess is that the different exercises are to keep you from being too bored and to work different parts of the shoulders, ie front, sides etc. However wont shoulder press work the whole shoulder anyhow? As for the boredom...that depends on the person.

Lateral raises and side raises help skulpt the delt rather than put mass on it. Military works all but the rear head of the delt. However raising and pressing yoru arm over head, works the tris as well. When you delt is "pulling" your staraight arms "up" away from the floor, if done right, 100% of that is delt.

Right. Same thing goes for the other muscle groups.
Bench press without incline, decline, and flyes will not give the shape that I want.
Barbell curls without dumbbell curls and others will not round out and shape the biceps.
