does anyone have any advice as to how to start again. I have been out of the gym for 8 months and was wondering if training a few muscles lightly a few times over the week was good or is isolation training better so long as i stay light. i just don't want to miss days this week because i got to sore from the work out the day before. just curious.

Have you signed up for an ft program? If not, that would be a place to start. Then, you should fill out your profile so we know more about your goals and current training regimen. This way, we'll be able to give better advice.

Good luck and welcome to ft!

yeah it's best that you start light to get going again. considering that you have had experiance with lifting before it would be okay to lift a little heavier, but just make sure you stretch good.

You cannot avoid some sore muscles in the beginning...... Imagine your body as an engine you'll need to get started again, it doesn't necessairly take a long time but it can hurt a tiny bit.
It should be okey thou, it's not more than that.

I'll advice you to do lots of compound exercises to start with and then don't take to heavy (you said that you are use to weight training before so compound ex shouldn't be a big prob)
