I was wondering if anyone has the bowflex and if so have you had good results. I was thinking of buying it on top of my workouts at the gym. They sell it here at Costco for $2000 which is very expensive but if its worth it I might buy it.

I bought a Crossbow (now called Crossbar) for starters. It has been good for me, but in about 6 months you should out grow it. You should save about half if you buy the crossbar vs the bowflex and still do the same things.

I have both a Bowflex and free weights, and haven't touched the free weights since I bought the Bowflex. Since I work out alone, it's much safer for me. I have all of the attachements, and have even improvised ways to use my existing free weight benches (much more stable than the Bowflex bench - the only shortcoming in my opinion).
I'm also a few months from 50, so my goals might be different than someone younger. Still, I maintain a good physique and muscle development (ie -- I look like I work out) using only the Bowflex, and best of all -- I've been injury-free for months.
They ARE expensive. I bought mine fully loaded used for around $900.00. New, it would have been close to $2000.00, but it shouldn't be too hard to find a decent used unit.
In all the years I used free weights, I was never able to bench more than my body weight. I can bench 200# with the Bowflex. Just for kicks, I tried using standard barbell weights to see if it made a difference.
I easily benched 200# -- about 80# more than I ever could pre-Bowflex.
I used to bench 50# dumbbells. Now, I can use a pair of 80's. Not bad for me.

You might check ebay and ubid.com for these. You'll pay for shipping, but you'll save a LOT in sale price.

Have you noticed if the resistance # with the bowflex is the same as free weights?

it's not the same sensation. The strain on the muscle is the same, but it's a different feeling than slugging weight. Momentum is not part of the equation, and the muscle is working the hardest when it's closer to flexed, which is just the opposite with free weights. Plus, you get more benefit out of the negative phase.
You have to try it. Obviously, many many guys have built huge bodies with iron. It's a proven system, but not without drawbacks. Anyone who has worked with iron for any period of time will suffer some kind of injury -- especially when you start to go heavy. I don't care how careful you are. It's been my experience in the 10 months I've had the Bowflex, that injury could only happen if you fell on the way to the machine and bumped your head on a dumbell.

We have a bowflex. It is great . We got it on ebay for 800.00 and it was delivered in about 10 days. We had to watch the video a couple of times to get all the good moves and posture is important. I would recomend it. Like most things out there if you use it you should see some good things happening.
