Is it detrimental to workout the same muscle group twice in one day, say, a few hours apart? Like doing negatives later in the day after a regular workout. I have a spotter available later in the day for negatives. Thanks for your responses!

Building muscle is basically a rebuilding - the long and short of it is you are creating microscopic tears which heal and thus the "growth", weight training actually tears down muscle and the body rebuilds it. If you work the same muscle group too much you are allowing room for injury there needs to be enough recovery so the muscle remodels and grows. Don't make the mistake of doing a great workout and minimizing the recovery part of it. As you progress in size and strength you will need to take even more rest and recovery time.
