Off to a mixed start.....kinda long post

I've been at this site less than a week so I know/think things will even out but I've got some things going on I'd like to bounce off the experienced people.

First, I love having getting a workout schedule made for me!!

Second, I've been obviously sooooo coasting before I came here. On the first --yes FIRST-- workout I was more challenged than I have been in years. In fact, I couldn't even do all the prescribed exercises because I was kicking my butt so well on the others. Problem? Maybe. I might not have low enough weights to do four sets of some things and increase wt on each set. A trip to Galyans may be in order. I tried just holding individual plates for some things but it was heck on the thumbs depending on what I was doing.

Third, I'm finding I'm not home/free every evening on the schedule that comes up. I'm compensating by "doing it when I can" and entering it in the database under the wrong date. As I'm doing a three-times-a-week schedule makeups are really easy to fit in. I guess I brought this up because I'm wondering if it's "OK" but frankly I have no choice. Except to get up and do it in the morning before work. Hmmmmm.

Fourth: I don't have the equipment!! A workout came up that surprised me (didn't read ahead) that called for chinups. I don't have a chinning bar but I'm going to rig something. I have a basement gym with a simple bench with a leg attachment, a barbell and a bunch of those hex dumbells. Again, I'll look for something at Galyans or just bolt some kind of bar to the ceiling joists. Same thing happened when I was supposed to do vertical bench crunches. Almost broke an antique desk chair trying to compensate. Maybe I could consistently do some other ab exercise and just enter it in the same spaces? Seems dishonest.

Anyway, speaking of abs. I thought I was sick yesterday but then I realized it was just that pleasant muscle ache you get the day after a workout. I have ignored my hidden abs for so long! Honestly, I really look forward to working out now. I hope I can sustain the enthusiasm.

Thanks for reading this long post! What do you think?

Welcome to F/T!
If you are planning on sticking with this, I would highly recommend getting some starter equipment or even join a gym. Galyans? You must live in Indiana. Wal-Mart may been even cheaper for some basic items.
I have found that working out in the morning is best for me - evening are just not an option, plus I feel great the rest of the day if I do it in the AM.
Again, get some equipment, if you don't you will end up hurting yourself.
Good Luck! It is worth the work!

For chin-ups, you could find a nice thick tree branch. Make sure it's big enough to not break and crash you to the ground. (shrug)
