my friend is trying to gain mass and loose his stomach. he says he does a full body work out every other day.(full body meaning he doesnt organize different muscles with different days) he does his bench, flies, triceps, biceps, forarms, lats and shoulders. then on the next day he does the tred mill and crunches.(he usually rests on weekend)
shouldnt he organize different muscles on different days?

He will have to figure out what works for him. But, there is a good chance with the schedule he currently is following that he will lose muscle! Doing a full body workout is a very intense and caloric demanding workout. Doing this every other day may well result in muscle loss due to very little rest. If diet is at all off, this will for sure be the case. And even with proper diet, there is not enough rest time to repair the muscle damage done from the prior workout if he is hitting it really hard. In the beginning stages, you can get away with it due to the fact that your workouts are not that hard usually, and you do just one exercise per bodypart. But after this if he is in an advanced state of training, he will surely be overtraining. And to add to that, it is almost impossible if you are an advanced trainer to gain mass and lose fat at the same time.

your right, my friend does only does 1 0r 2 work outs for each muscle (CHEST: bench and flies, BICEPS: normal arm curls, Triceps:pull downs FOREARM: forarms lifts, LATS: lat pulls, SHOULDERS:military press and crunches)( everything is with low reps and heavy weight) this is pretty much wat he doese every other day. and srry i dont no the actual names for the exercise but u probably get the idea. if he is doin this instead of seperating different muscles into different days will he still gain mass
