Hi all,
I've searched through fitBuddy and can't find any mention of anyone having a bread maker. I have one I used to use all the time, until I found out how many carbs were in one slice of the stuff I was making.

My question is this, since I have the potential to put almost anything in my bread maker, how and what could I add to make it worth using again? It was a Mother's Day pressie a couple of years ago and the OH is a bit miffed that I don't use it. It's capable of making a range of things, some things I wouldn't try even if I wanted to, mainly because it's all majorly sweetened stuff. But it's good for pizza bases (you know what's in them) and bread rolls.

Im thinking I could add whole grains, fruit, some nuts and seeds and other things. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate them.

We have one that we don't use as often as we'd like.. with making it at home, with or without a breadmaker, you know what's going in.. how much whole wheat (it sucks seeing almost white 100% whole wheat), nuts and such as you mentioned.... we toss in flax meal once in a while... I think it's better if you make it yourself as you know what's in there and can adjust the recipe for personal preferance...

You can buy bread machine mixes for whole wheat breads and others that are more contusive to your diet than sweet breads and white breads.

On another note...I LOVE rasin bread fresh out of a bread machine!!!!!

Donna, I use my breadmaker to make some awesome whole grain breads, there are so many available, I couldn't even begin to list them all. This is how I found many of mine, go to yahoo search and type in: whole grain breadmaker recipes and you will have so many to try you won't know what to do with them. I am going to experiment using Splenda on some, many of these recipes call for a bit of honey.

Enjoy!

Well it sounds like the bread maker can come out of retirement! It's not half as evil as I thought it was. Now all I have to do is find out how to stop it tasting so damn yummy when it's just been removed. Fresh and hot, mmmm my mouth is watering already!
