I've heard alot about this and mostly how it is used to gain endurance in your muscles. Now, that my football camp just started my coaches have us on a circuit workout only and no powerlifting... what exactally does circuit training do? because from my knowledge of what people told me it seems as if it will get me toned rather than stronger, which has me question why we're only doing that in football when you need raw strength....

I was a trainer at a women's circuit training gym and it was basically cardio with resistance. You normally do not have the opportunity to increase your resistance as you would with weights but rather with the speed of your movements. and you "rest" in between the machines by walking in place or doing "steps". During the first few minutes of activity, your muscles will burn primarily glucose or glycogen as energy, then with intensity, they will begin to burn more fat as the activity progresses, as the body signals the fat stores that more energy is needed, the fat stores begin to give up fat to be used as energy. If you have not been exercising your muscles are used to burning primarily glycogen or glucose for quick energy, but the more fit you are the more quickly you will be able to access fat for energy.

Raw strengtg Isn't the only thing in football. If that were so why are NFL lines getting smaller and faster? Speed is every bit as important as strength. Do a football search in fitbuddy. There is alot of info on this type of training. In the powerlift board there are tons of posts as well. Curcuit training is a good starting point in any training program. Bet this will change as the season progresses. Good luck.
