The Fitness Instructor at my gym told me to do about 16 minutes of cardio before I do weights. He said something about getting oxygen for your muscles to burn fat. But I read on here somewhere not to do it like that. What should I be doing? I do about 30 minutes of cardio after my weights.
Do a 5 minute warm up of cardio, then hit the weights. After which do 30 mins of cardio this way you have used your gylcogen efficently and will burn fat during your cardio routine. There are heaps of post's that allready go into this in great detail, i suggest reading some for further info...
Your trainer is wrong. Find someone else. Your priority should always be resistance training first. The benefits of it far outweigh any calorie burn you get from cardio. You simply reduce needed glycogen stores that could be much better utilized by doing cardio first.
