Ok, I decided to try doing my straight leg dead lifts with bands and can I just tell you that my entire body is rather pissed at me for it?
Obviously, they work but I am trying to figure out why I didn't get the same effect from the way I was doing them the regular way. Perhaps the tension of the band is greater, or should I say more effective for me than the weight I was using on the bar before or is it because using the bands works the muscles differently??????

Different angle/stress, new pain  Good Job!

Me and my hammies (in particular) will thank you for that when I can once again move them asimmer...
So, being that it is effective, I assume that I can rotate between the bands and the regular way?

YeaH, AND TRY THEM WITH DUMB BELLS AND BARBEL, MIX IT UP, MEDICINE BALL, ONE LEG, ETC. oopS, i AM NOT YELLING...my nails are a little long and I always hit the caps lock by accident:(
The band may have been more effective because you didn't have to spend as much energy on balancing the bar/dumb bells, just resist the band, so your hammies could 'focus' n the movement better. Does that make sense?
It is so satisfying when you can get those hammies isolated and sore:big_smile:

YES!! I do believe that you are right on with the balance thing...balance IS a huge issue for me in general.
Call me the village idiot, but I didn't know you could do dead lifts with the ball, or are you talking about something else?:surprised:

he weighted medicine ball, not the big ball. You can hold it infront of you and do one-legged deadlifts, where your opposite leg goes up behind you for counter balance. Though, if you are balance challenged, you may want to wait until you have the two-leeged version stable:)

Ahhhh, I see now...heehee...I was over here trying to envision any possible way to use that ball in a dead lift. I'm glad you told me...how stupid would I have looked trying to figure this out at the gym?:big_smile:
Thanks asimmer!!

The mental picture is a good one, though:surprised:
I do know some people that can stand and do squats on top of the big ball, maybe you could do deadlifts standing on it....

Any attempt on my part to do that would truly bring new meaning to the term "dead lift"...mainly because I would be "dead" when they "lifted" me off the floor.
