After about a month of not stepping off the scale...I weighed myself before that and throughout my whole workout period I never gained a pound I weighed around 155...Well I get on the scale today and it says I weight 149....Whats up with this? Im not putting on more muscle...I feel flabbier and yet im losing weight? Interesting.

If you are losing muscle you will weigh less, fat takes up the same amount of space, yet weighs less than muscle (lets not get that arguement started again:().
Are you eating enough to support your efforts in the gym? -------------- "To be able to go to the gym and train hard is a joy and a privelege, even though the hard work necessitates driving yourself through considerable discomfort. I had a similar problem.. I haven't been losing the weight, but it isn't increasing..
I'm trying to eat more, but there's only so much you can eat throughout the day.. I'm supposed to eat 2265 calories, but sometimes I can only get to 1800 calories.. I've even had days of 1500 calories (and it seemed as though I was eating every moment of the day). If fat is turning to muscle, the scale would still be going up, right? |

Fat doesn't turn into muscle.
if you are building muscle at the same rate that you are losing fat, the scale may not register a difference. Judge by your clothing and appearance, or get your composition tested with calipers. Goldengloves - if a meal repacements is the only way you will get in enough protein than it is better than not getting in the protein and calories. When I worked at the gym I relied heavily on meal replacement shakes and bars, just because I would literally have five minutes to eat most meals. This didn't stall my progress at all. continued to gain mass and see more definition. I did have to switch to more real food when I prepped for competition, but that is a different situation. Myoplex deluxe or something similar would be a good meal replacement - remember meal indicates carbs, fat and protein, not a no-or-extremely low-carb shake. efrost - are you getting any complex carbs other than vegeis? oatmeal and brown rice and sweet potatoes will bring your calories up without iompacting your blod sugar too much. It is necesary to eat carbohydrates. -------------- "To be able to go to the gym and train hard is a joy and a privelege, even though the hard work necessitates driving yourself through considerable discomfort. Looks like mrp for me....It sucks not being able to have a nice full course meal but when you are a busy person it is next to impossible though....Also I should be having 6 meals a day right? Would a protein shake be considered a meal or what? Say it went like this?
1-mrp drink 2-protein bar or something of that nature 3-mrp drink 4-whey drink 5-dinner 6-bed time snack like crackers or peanut butter or something? |

I've been trying to get up to 169g carbs a day.. 283g protein and 50g fat.. I usually can get the carbs to about 150ish, but protein I get to about 200g.. fats are easy to get up there, but I have a voice in my head that keeps telling me to stay away from fats, so I usually get to about 35g. A bowl of Sugar Free ice cream can solve that quickly, but I try to be good.. (I do fail sometimes).
I do have oatmeal about 2 times a week for breakfast, but then the problem is that I'm not eating my protein in the morning, which affects my total count for the day.. I eat some fruits during the day, but the caloric intake for them is fairly low. |

goldengloves, i'm no pro (or even close) but that seems like a lot of liquid nutrition. i'd suggest eating more solid foods, you'll have plenty of time to drink your chicken when the kids put you in the nursing home:)

hey bud, maybe you had more in your stomach the first time you weighed yourself. Unless your weighing yourself first thing in the morning everytime, your results could be skewed. This is obviously no neccasarrily the reason, but its a possibility. are you losing strength also?
