Do treadmills sometimes give you bad form??? I started running again but on a treadmill and my left leg kinda is sore, but i don't think its shin splints, b/c usually shin splints occur on your dominant foot. but i was wondering if the treadmill might be making me over pronate or not run as i would out in the open due to being stuck going straight and on a confined space.

Watch what your feet are doing when you are running, and try adjusting the speed - it may be the belt was moving too slow for your gate or too fast.
treadmils also may not have as much cushion or rebound as the surface you run on outside.
The belt may not be wide, but it shouldn't affect you that much unless you are feeling clausterphobic about it.
It sounds like you know about gait and how your foot should be moving - try slowing down and focusing - are you hitting the belt on th outside of your heel, are you rolling all the way to the ball for push-off?

and to stop unnecessary wear and tear on your ankles and all why not mix it at times, use elliptical trainers for your main heavy cardio and the tread for your form and then a bike another day... less boring too!
