I was just wondering if you can loose muscle mass from boxing (which includes fights and training for it, ie jumping ropes, speed bags etc). Ive noticed alot of lightweight boxers are not really muscle peeps probably cos it will limit speed. Also considering boxing is probably one of the most intense type of cardio out there I thought too much cardio can cause muscle loss. Im thinking if I keep at my weights, enough nutrition it should take down my muscle but give me more definition?

I boxed for a few years, amateur, and I must say that the cardiovascular part can halt big mass gains for obvious reasons. Weight training is vital in competative boxing for a stronger base for a stronger punch, BUT lifting for size is pretty tough to do and not a good idea during pre-fight training. In the off season, of course you can lift for size and strength. If you box for cardio fitness and not for a bout, it is not nearly as intense as training for a fight, so there is more room for having the energy and nutrient base to train for size.
