Hello everyone. I am in the cutting up phase and I would like to know if fruit is bad for cutting up? I hear so much about fruits holding so much natural sugars we should stay away from them during this time. Any updates? Thank you:dumbbell:

Fruits are excellent nutritional sources, but on a "cutting" diet, when your calories become at a premium, fruit is normally not a good thing. Fruit is high in fructose, which tops off liver glycogen, which is stored and used for a later date. These are basically at this time "wasted" calories when as mentioned, calories are at a premium, and every calorie is needed to keep your workouts up to par. When your diet becomes very lean in calories, you only have so many calories to work with, and therefore does not make sense to use them on a macronutrient that does not optimize muscular energy stores. If you are at the beginning, a bit of fruit in the morning, like blueberries in your oatmeal would be fine, but keep it there only. And not inferior fruits like bananas...blueberries, strawberries, peaches, apples.

Yeah, and something many don't understand with the "health" benefits from fruit. Fructose is a main sweetner in soft drinks also. Your body cannot tell the difference between fructose from soft drinks or fruit on digestion. Though there is of course health qualities to fruit over soft drinks, some fiber, some vitamins, these can actually be aquired quite easily from other sources when trying to lose bodyfat. The bad side of the fruit in this instance outweighs the health portion of it if fat loss is your goal.

It won't harm you. It is simply calories that could be better utilized for muscle glycogen and/or protein synthesis for example.
