Been working out now for 5 weeks. I am on the 'lose weight and tone up' program and also the 12 week abs program. I do 5 days of lifting and cardio each week (cardio in morning, lifting in evening). Until 2 days ago I was steadily losing weight, 12 pounds in total. In the last 2 days I have gained 3 pounds. Doesn't sound much but it's strange as I have been eating well (hittng or just under all targets) and working out harder than normal (been slowly increasing my weights until I lift to failure on last set). Question is this: Is this kind of weight fluctuation normal on the kind of program I'm on. Thanks.

Yes it is. Do not go by scale only. I would measure your waist to really judge how ti is going. Also are your clothes fitting better still? You can actualy loose size and gain weight as fat takes up more room. So you can add a lot of muscle and still look thinner....
-------------- LIFT HEAVY! BECOME STRONG, LIKE BULL!

Guessing by your name you're female... three lbs in two days, sounds like PMS to me.
Mine, anyway! Weight fluctuations are normal and three lbs in two days is probably water retention.

LOL - guess that isn't your problem then!
My guess would still be water retention; that's too quick to be fat or muscle IMO.
Or maybe your scale needs calibrating. LOL
