I've heard and read that as long as a person gets half an hour or so of cardio through the day, it's alright... this could be 3 ten minutes sessions at different times of the day or whatever, as long as it works out to about 30 minutes. Is this true? I suspect it's better to get it all at once, though...

Thanks,

Cardio is actualy for the heart, as in cardiovascular.
So the bottom line is, warm up 5 min, keep the hr at 65% or higher for at least 10 min, then cool down 5 min. 20 min should be sufficient. And on weight days, keep it at around 10 min, just to warm up.

Thanks, carivan...

I've just heard differing views about it... guess it's a matter of which is best for the individual...

What about cardio sessions that last about 40 minutes? Is that too long?

i'd say it depends on what your goals are... i mean, i don't think someone getting ready to run the new york marathon would do HIIT every time they worked out... I knew a guy that ran for 1 hour a session, with two sessions a day, three days a week... he seemed to be in pretty healthy shape to me, so i guess it just depends on what you want...
