While I was at the gym yesterday, a guy came over to me in between sets, and said I wish I can do that but my arms haven't developped yet! To keep this post short, he told me he was a quadriplegic for 10 years and just got his life back, after being in an auto accident. Next thing, I see him on the leg press doing 470 lbs!!!
Was he putting me on, or is it possible. No discrimination intended, and this is a serious post.
Anybody know?

My brother was an "incomplete quadraplegic" who was able to recover almost 90%. He is able to lift weight and function physically as anyone else. Incomplete quad is someone who suffered a spine injury, became paralyzed, but the severity of the damage is able to heal. More than likely, if he's not pulling your leg, he was an incomplete Quad. I've never heard of a full quad making a recovery to that point because in those cases, the spine is severed and almost impossible to reconnect without excessive scarring which is the cause for most paralysis in the first place.

Some people make remarkable recoveries - I wouldn't say anything else too him but watch & see how people treat him.

Thanks for the responses. I usually trust people but in this case I really wasn't sure. He did mention spine injury
and it makes sense now after what you say jdelts. It is really amazing to see this guy train,(for what he has is been through) thanks for the input. The reason I had my doubts was because he kept talking to me, telling me about his accident, but the guy didn't have one scar, after being hit at 90km in the rear. Told me the seatbelt saved him. Starnge that he latched on to me.
