Smith Machine

I just recently switched gyms and I noticed that the Smith Machine in my new gym is set up differently than my old gym. Both machines were in front of a mirror so one would assume you peform squats facing the mirror. The only thing is that the machines are set up exactly opposite from one another. If you imaging looking at the Smith Machine from the side it would look like one half of a V. While squatting should your bottom be "sitting" towards/into the V or away/out from the V. Hope this makes sense. Thanks!!!!

You should be facing the inside of the machine. There shouldn't be anything behind you.

As a side note: I just met the inventor of the Smith machine last weekend - Rudy Smith. Really neat guy; lives here in Vegas...
