I got a question. Lately ive been having trouble sleeping and i think that i know what the problem is. I always go to the gym around 745-8PM im there roughly 1.5, i come home and pretty much go to bed.. i have been waking up at 530ish starving. Im sure im being woken up no doubt b/c i am so hungry. After i work out i come home and have a protein shake, then go to bed. should i maybe have a light meal before bed to tie me over til the AM?? does anyone else have this same problem?

if possible you might wanna switch your work out to maybe early morning or somthing, after you work out your body is engerized and if you go straight to bed it makes you restless....if you can't......try drinking a protein shake and staying up for maybe 30 or 45 mins to let your body get back to the jest of thingsand ready for bed..............what I do about the huger thing I eat somthing solid with my protein shake maybe a tuna sandwich or somthing, an da lay a protin shake next to my bed, when or if I wake up I drink it then go back to bed I don't even have to get outta bed lol..........If I could only find a way to work out like this lol

well, i knew a guy that slept with a bag of bread underneath his pillow, just in case he woke up hungry in the middle of the night... anyhoo, yeah, like andrew said, you should probably wait 30-45 minutes after your shake before you go to bed... and one thing i'd add to that... it'd probably be a good idea for you to have something right before you go to bed, but something small and taht your body will digest slowly... a table spoon of peanut butter should do the trick...

This may sound strange, but I will drink a couple glasses of water before bed - this help my hunger pangs at night. The only reason I wake up is .......well....two big glasses of water!

Good carbs before bed will help. Are you having something that contains caffein? As in a supplement?

Take ZMA after your post workout shake, about 1 hr. or more(gastric emptying) with that should have occurred by then, then 1/2 hour after your ZMA, have 1/2 cup cottage cheese and some fiber(flax seed would work well, or a green leafy salad), and go to bed. The casein protein from cottage cheese actually gels in the stmomach upon digestion, thus slow release of amino acids into the bloodstream. You will sleep well with the ZMA, anabolic hormones released, tissue repair, and wake without being starved by feeding your muscles before bed.
