Just wondering what is the best wait time between sets and reps? I usaully do 1min to 1 1/2 between reps and 2 to 2/12 between sets?

I try not to wait longer than a minute. Keeps my intensity high.

I mainly do supersets and dropsets and keep my rest periods short as well. There are times, though, when I go extremely heavy and have to rest about 2-3 minutes.

I read somewhere, perhaps on this site, the less rest between reps and sets, the more calories you burn... is this true?

True to a point. If you lift very heavy you may have to rest longer but it burns calories and builds muscle which also burns calories.

nice pic keithavh! I too sent in a pic of me doing the rock-on/devilhorn/party/whatever-you-wannna-call-it pose.
BUT, my pic got chopped off and it looks like a big 'L'...I should probably change that.

oh, and I usually rest long enough to feel ready enough to get the best out of the next set, but not long enough to really cool down. That also depends on how much weight I'm lifting as well. The heavier the weight, the longer the rest between sets. I wouldn't really recommend resting for more than 2 minutes between sets unless it's really heavy.

word up.

You guys are funny. I tried to teach the buffalo sign language like that and he chased my ass out of Yellowstone Park. I was showin him the Hawaiian good luck sign at the time.

I think I would fall out if I only waited 30 sec on leg days.

for legs, yeap. Not upper body. Then again, I have read some of neov3's workouts and I don't think 30 mins would be enough time for me.

lol...your post is funny in 2 ways...

you brought up a 15 month post for no reason...and I am trying to imagine trying to hold weight for 3 minutes between each rep...that sounds painful....so a 12 rep set....lasts 36 minutes...now that's what I call intensity....:)

Since this post was brought up....

For cardio benefits with fairly high reps of 10-12....rest periods of 30-45 seconds are best

For recovery for fairly heavy sets of 6-8 reps 1-2 minutes is good

3-6 reps I'd suggest 3-5 minutes of rest....(especially for squats/deads)

1-2 reps....I rest upwards of half hour....6 sets in 2 hours...although most people need about 5 minutes....

^^^o noooo..i meant 3 minutes between each SET...as far as reps..i just do a casual/un-rushed movement...I dont really keep track of how long it takes between each rep..i just make sure my form is right every rep..
