This is nuts. I am just trying to burn like 2 inches off my waist to see my abs. It seems like something that can be done within a month or so, but contradictory approaches have me seeing stars. Im not sure if I should do high protein, moderate fat and low carb, or high protein, moderate carb and low fat. So right now Im doing low carb, moderate fat and whatever protein I happen to eat. Ususally a couple of chicken breasts or whatever. The carbs I eat are fruits and vegetales, which is probably bad cuz they are high in sugar. I eat peanut butter as a snack, but that's probably bad cuz its loaded with fat. Not to mention, I don't wanna burn muscle, which I will probably do in the long run the way Im going, and end up with the upper body of a 5 year old boy with a belly. I know I should find the amount of calories i consume on an average day etc., and just decrease it but It's too varied to tell and it would add extra time to the whole process, and I want the good results in a couple of weeks. Plus, Ive already been doing this for a week and it would undermine the hell Ive already gone through.i just want the fat around my midsection gone. It aint that much. Will Stacker 2 or Trimspa speed the burning quickly so that I can go back to a regular diet ASAP? HELP PLEASE!!!!!

senor, You realy want hi protein, hi carbs and low fat. The quality of the carbs will make all the difference. There is a post in the specific diets and nutrition board by BB1 entitled grocery list for the body builder. EAT WHATS ON IT!!! My wife and I have used the sugarbusters diet book to help us eat foods lower in sugar.
As far as exercise goes. Do you use any resistance in your ab exercises. That changed my results with ab training tremendously. Also, if you don't eat enough quality food you can put your body into starvation mode and actually gain fat and lose muscle. Hope this helps, good luck. -------------- Living well is the best revenge. Charlie

1-What kind of resistance ab exercises do you recommend and how do you do them (free weghts only cuz i don't have access to machines)?
2-Also, Ive always heard people who take Atkins low-carb approach burn fat faster. I eat whole wheat, oatmeal and stuff like that- healthy carbs, but that doesn't seem to help me shed fat. Am I doing something wrong? |

The foood tracker will also help you. Simply put in your goals and it will help you track your nutrients. -------------- It's not what we eat or drink occasionally, but what we consume on a daily basis that determines our ongoing level o health. formerfatguy.com Not sure of author |

I hold a 25 lb disk on my chest for crunches. You have to buld up to that. You can hold a dumbell between your feet for leg lifts and seated tucks. Cable crunches are great if you have a pull down machine.
How long have you been lifting? how long have you been eating properly? How tall? How heavy? How many calories? Look in your profile, Jdelts hit the nail on the head. -------------- Living well is the best revenge. Charlie

well u can't " burn" fat off ur stomach...i dunno y people keep thinking this but u can't...........so anyways u want to see those abbs u need to cut some carbs back and up the protein,,,,, depening on ur body weight up the protein to 1.25grams per lb u weigh..........and try eating ur body weight plus 50 grams of carbs and if ur losing more than 2 lbs a week then u need to add a few more carbs.........unfortunally adding weight is easy, but getting rid of fat and keeping muscle is hard, this is y probody builders get the fat off slowly like 2 or 3 months proir to the compotition.....so losing 2 ins is somthig u can't do in a month, well u can but u gonna be losing more than fat, plus calories get consumed throughout the body not just the stomach..........limit the fruits to before noon or before ur work out..............and after 7pm.....limit ur carbs to very very few...........no peanut butter, no bread..........only from green veggies-------------- ---andrew.......adversity causes some to break, but others to break records! I've been lifting for years.
I've been eating properly for years as well. I'm about 6'1 and 190-195 lbs. If Its not best for me to burn it off over the course of a month, how long should it take? It doesn't seem like too much to burn off to me. So I should consume 285 g of protein, 210 g of carbs and X amount of fat? Peanut butter has too many carbs? Should I cut out bread altogether? What else? |

I think from what you say that you are on the right track. You just need to give it time. It seems to be taking me about a month to burn off 1% body fat. Its just a slow process. I've been maintaining my weight + - a few pounds and sheding fat. Calories have to be monitered carefully. I hate keeping a log of my food so I eat the same thing daily for breakfast and meals I pack for work. We have about 10 different evening meals that we know the calorie content of.
If you are using resistance for ab training, lifting and doing cardio and still not making progress, the answer lies in your diet!! You gotta ask yourself how long it took to get this way and then give yourself a reasonable amount of time to fix it. BTW, the problem with peanut butter isn't carbs. Its fat and sugar unless you are eating 100% natural peanut butter. However the fat in natural peanut butter is a good fat if used in small quantities. It just tastes like crap to kids like me who want it sweet. -------------- Living well is the best revenge. Charlie

Yes, I eat the naturaql peanut butter, and yes the skippy tastes better, but it don't taste bad with the right jelly.... Any other resistance ab exercises you know of? I did 4 sets of 12 crunches with 15 pounds on my chest the other day and didn't notice any uncomfort, as opposed to when i do a set 0f 25 straight crunches, where I feel the pain during the last few. Is this a bad sign?

One thing I do on crunches is hook my feet under somthing and go halfway up. I am too top heavy to crunch without doing that. You may want to try incline crunches too. Keep upping the weight. Sooner or later it will hit you.-------------- Living well is the best revenge. Charlie

I struggle to complete the reps with the weight on it but I don't feel any soreness or anything like when I do normal crunches, which makes me wonder... Also, how do you do an incline crunch? Is it more effective?... Isn't hooking your legs and going half way up like a situp? Are those better for you than crunches?

Incline crunches need an incline bench or board. On crunches dont go up more than about 45 degrees. If its not enough, increase the reps.-------------- Living well is the best revenge. Charlie

I do 20 minutes of HIIT twice a week and 20 minutes of steady paced jogging twice. I recently read that you don't start burning fat until you've been active for 45 minutes. I hope this isn't true. I would imagine it's all about calories and how many you burn. Whose right?

Im 3 weeks into my diet/ab development phase. As I said, I only have about 5 pounds to burn off my waist, but I haven't noticed much difference. So I was hoping you could tell me if I'm doing everything right and its just a matter of time, or if Im doing something wrong. I do 20 Min. of HIIT 2-3 times a week and steady 20 min. steady cardio 1-2 times a week totalling in 3-5 cardio days a week. My daily diet usually consists of oatmeal with a banana, honey roasted wheat germ and a grapefruit for breakfast, a tuna sandwich with lowfat mayo, a natural peabut butter and jelly sandwich and grilled chicken with vegatables and tobasco for dinner. I have been doing weighted crunches, rev. incline crunches. anything else I should do? When should i up the weight on the weighted crunches?

High intensity interval training. Its when you run at one-minute intervals gradually picking up speed then gradually slowing back down... Anyone have any info for me?

I'm not sure how to fill out the profile. My profile is as follows- I'm about 6/1?, about 190 lbs. Charlie- I know it took you 8 months to burn off the fat from your abs, but that seems way too drastic for me. I could probably lose 50-100 pounds in that time. BTW, the Jackson performance is what sent me running from the TV during half time too and apparently I missed her bra being pulled off. Go figure.
