How many of you guys have to take Thyroid medicine? How do you think it affects your workouts?

Unless you have a known thyroid condition, I would opt to shy away from anything that over the counter claims to enhance the thyroid activity. In my opinion, this could be very dangerous.

If on the other hand you have legitamite throid condition, and are taking meds for it, you should have no problem with your workouts.

If you are supposed to be on Thyroid meds, and are missing your meds - you'll notice a difference - but being on them should just make your whole life more normal.

If you don't need them and add them to you life - you will get all of the "benefits" of having an overactive thyroid: nervousness, mood changes, weakness, fatigue, hand tremors, a rapid pounding and irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath (even when resting), excessive sweating, warm flushed skin that may be itchy, an increased number of soft stools, and hair loss. Fun eh?

I have to take thyroid meds. *sigh*. I've been on it since 1992. Even tho my thyroid is underactive, I had lost a ton of weight. I had gone down to 90 lbs. Not sure how it affects my workout, cause I wasn't active when it started.

Well, another warning - if you have lost that much weight - GET RETESTED! Your thyroid levels needed depend on many things, and weight is one of them - it could affect how much of the hormone is actually taken in by the body. I lost about 20 lbs of fat - and it changed my dosage needed!

MyCoffeeGirl, How did you get started? I have been taking T3 (on top of my T4) since December and am starting to feel human again--but still have no motivation to exercise and as a thyroid girl I know that is the only way to take it off. When I was really hypo I excersised three times a day out of dogged determination--now that I can actually lose weight--I don't have the drive.
