Are pushups effective or just a waste of time. What are they good for? Bulking up? Toning? Developing a cut look? I once read that they are the most effective chest exercise there is, surpassing even the bench press. I've also read that they don't do much to add bulk or strength at all. Who knows the truth?

Also, I can't seem to work my lower abs right. When I do leg lifts, I often don't feel any burn in my abs. Am i doing it wrong? If so, what is the proper way to do them and are they effective? What are the most effective ab workouts there are?

LOL... No, I do bench press, flies etc. I wanna lean physique, like Brad Pitt or something. I was wondering what effect pushups had on everything, if any. Also, do you know about the ab stuff?

Abs-go slow, keep your abs tight throughout the movement, and pause at the top. Pushups are not as effective because you are limited as to the amount of your resistance. In boot camp I was a knucklehead and therefore had the opportunity to do 'plenty' of pushups. Did very little for my size, changed my attitude alot though. It was a slow process though.
