I am finally getting my other body parts into shape, lifting a lot heavier and doing a lot more abs. NOW I really need to be more flexible. I am been using the abductor/adductor at the gym but I do not have much range at all, it is almost embarrasing!! Any exercises to help this (keep in mind I am 56 years old).

If this is the machine I am thinking, (standing with the pad either inside or outside of your thigh, closer to the knee) you don't need a great range of motion. Especially as you go heavier. I started out moving the weight way out to the side and my trainer said that was good, but that I didn't need to go that far. Now I am at 130-150 pounds on it and only move it about 12-18 inches or so.

Yes, that is the correct machine and I wish I was going heavy on that machine!! I just have lost all flexibility!!! If I could go 12-18" I would be very happy!!! I was thinking maybe Pilates would help some. But I just cannot seem to work those in my schedule!!

Do you still work with a trainer, deby? He/she should be able to assist you in post-workout stretches that will enhance your flexibility. Ask about Assisted stretching. Get a yoga strap to assist yourself in stretching.
Karen Voight has a realy good stretching video, maybe you could work that in at home a few times a week?

Thanks for the info asimmer. Yes, I still work with a trainer and plan to until my husband retires next year at which time he will start going to the gym with me! I just got a new trainer, since my was promoted to Trainer Manager and cannot train from 5-8, I train at 7:30. I really like my new trainer, Matt, he does things a lot different than James did. I just don't feel comfortable talking to him about the flexibility thing yet, so I want to work on it on my own for a while. But the yoga thing sounds good.
