Hi. Is it true that for an effective workout, I shouldn't eat anything for an hour after doing intensive exercises? If so, when is the best time to have my protein shake after workout then?

Best time to have your post workout shake is within 30-45 minutes.

Carivan is right. Immediately is best. A good protocol is to drink half of it immediately, then sip the rest for about 45 min. or so, to downregulate insulin for the day. A whole food meal takes too long to digest, and will not aid the recovery like a post workout shake. You need to shut off cortisol as soon as possible.

sipping for about 45 mins? um...I don't think I can do that coz I don't really like the protein shake that I'm drinking right now. So I usually gulp it down in one shot.

While we're on this topic, how do you guys usually drink your protein shake? I just mix the powder with water as directed on the bottle, but it's doesn't taste that good.
