has anyone done one? I am considering one that is biking, canoeing, and running.
i would have nine months to train for it. Is that enough time?

Asimmer, I have logged many thousands of miles on bikes and canoes. I never competed on either but i know that technique isreally important. I know that you have the fitness thing down. I rode the Blue Ridge parkway 35 years ago many times. We were among the first idiots to do so. After a 30 year hiatus from biking I bought a mountain bike and started back. It was a mean foreign concept to me. It took several months just to get back to basics. You ride different ways to "rest" while going the distance. Canoeing is much the same. If you have friends who can coach you on the finer points, that would be essential. I am cluless on serious running. Hope this helps a little. Did you try my suggestion about your dog in your exercise log??
Good luck, Charlie

Charlie,
The dog has threatened to nip your ankle if he ever meets you. :)
I will look for some mentors in this endeavor. I did quite a bit of canoeing in my early teen years, and used to mountain bike, but never on very serious trails, so i guess I had better start, I know it is completely different than just biking. The running I know how to train for, I just am not a very graceful or natural runner, I think because of my muscle mass/width. One of the guys I used to work with at the gym said that watching my training partner and I run on the track was akin to seeing gladiators run. Was that a compliment? I guess it is better than wildebeasts.
I will do as much outside biking and canoeing as I can before the weather turns and then spend the winter just building up endurance.
PS Thanks for the comment on my log, I got a good laugh from it. And I haven't shaved my head , yet....
