What do you suggest for a 6'2, 260-70 pound 15 year old couch potato kid. I can run, I can lift, I can do it all, but I'm so overwhelmed and don't know where to start. I know I'm overweight and I'm very young, I need to start to get into shape, I don't want to have a ton of health problems when I get older. Already I've had high blood pressure and cholesterol (SP?). I have schoool until around 4 so I have all the time after that to do anything basically. I want results fast and am willing to work hard. Any help here? Diet suggestions would be helpful too (I eat HORRIBLY, junk food all day).

Oh forgot to mention, I have access to basically everything. Treadmill, bike, ab machines, full weight room, all that.

Why not choose a beginner program on this site? Lots of good ones to choose from. You simply click on the fitness profile box on top left of this page. Click on view or change your exercise profile and let it lead you on. Good luck to you.

Congratulations on wanting a healthier lifestyle. You are smart to want to make that change now and not wait until you are in your 40's and falling apart. As far as diet goes, you know you are eating junk and you know it is bad for you....so stop! Make healthier choices. Cut out the sodas and chips. (easier said than done, right?) Drink lots of water. Most young people don't drink nearly enough water. If you must eat fast food, pick something not fried, or a grilled chicken salad. Just cutting out a few things at a time will make a big difference. Good luck.

In my opinion you have already done the best thing possible, DECIDED TO CHANGE! Just stick to it & stay focused. If there is one thing I have learned it is that the only reason people are not in the physical condition they want to be it's because they have not yet decided to be. Welcome to the beggining of a better life!

Thanks a lot for the encouragment, it does help a lot. I have a couple of questions. For starters, I eat a lot, all day long. Will cutting my diet down (and healthier) mess up my metabolism? I've been educated on lots of stuff like this in PE in school and I think I heard that that might slow my metabolism down and It wouldn't help. How should I start my diet?

Smaller more frequnet meals will actually speed up your metabolism. 5-6 healthy, protein based with good complex carbs and a couple with good healthy fats will actually speed up your metabolism, and increase your lean mass gains.
