I used to have fat flabby arms, I did 10 push ups a day, now I have muscles and a thin layer of fat, how to I get rid of the fat and a little bit of muscle?
Also, how does one go about losing body fat? Thank you very much!

Why would you want to get rid of the muscle? This is your best friend in your fight to get rid of the bodyfat you don't want. Muscle ups your metabolism. Losing bodyfat is essentially a matter of math. Create a caloric deficit with the right foods, exercising both anerobic and aerobic, and you will retain muscle and lose bodyfat. It is/can be a slow process, but persistance pays off. There are unfortunately no shortcuts, there are "fad" diets, but these usually have rebound effects or are not realistic or long term, and you do not get firm and toned. Be patient, check out the FT exercise and diet areas, set yourself up on both, and stay with it. Make it a lifestyle. Welcome to FT, and best of luck to you.

I did 10 push ups a day, now I have muscles// quoted

you need to get a good fitness program that exercises every muscle in your body. You need to eat a proper diet, and get a good amount of sleep each night. It will come, but it takes time and dedication. trust me, 10 push ups a day aint gonna do squat. If you are serious about working out, and trimming down, you need a lot more dedication than that. I'm not saying this to put you down, I'm just giving you an honest evaluation. good luck.

10 push ups isn't all I do. It's just part of what I do, I have a decent diet in that I don't get too many grams of fat (on average about 30 grams), however, i do get a daily requirement of calories for energy. I don't like my arms, I want them smaller, that is why I want to lose muscle. I have more problems though, I cannot sleep, I'm an insomniac. I also have joint problems which keeps me from being able to run, and I'm only 18. I can't afford to go to the gym or buy weight loss stuff, or equipment. What do I do?

SoapSuds1431, I feel your pain as an insomniac. For years I struggled with this, actually going days without sleep, thinking, well, tomorrow I know I will be so tired I won't be able to help but sleep. I think you know the story. I tried every herb, everything there was(being into health foods). I have to tell you, I finally found ZMA. This stuff is awesome! It does not induce sleep so much as improve the quality of your sleep. 5 hrs. can feel like you got 8. And if you wake at night, you will not be up for the night, you can go right back to sleep. I wish I would have found this years ago. It is as important to me now as my vitamins. I am never without it. It is simply Zinc, magnesium and B6 in a synergystic blend. Try it. Hope it helps you as much as it helped me. Just take it on an empty stomach 30-45 min. before bed. Make sure you take no calcium with it or within an hour or so of taking it. They fight fiercely for absorbtion.

As far as the size of your arms, give it time, when I first started working out in March, my legs got bigger and I thought "this is not what I am looking for", but now they have slimmed down so much my pants are all getting too long on me. There is probably still fat there that you cannot really see but they will change, women do not get muscular unless they REALLY try. Also, on the ZMA, BB1 got me using them and they are wonderful, you feel so rested and they relax you so you CAN sleep.

It is a good starting point. Don't try and take on too much because you might burn yourself out. Slowly improve yourself. It is dedication, but people should knock what you do. Give everything a try and see what happens.
On another note I think that some people should try and put themselves in other peoples shoes before they tell them that they are not dedicated enough, RaskalSbp.

All i said is that you should not question someone dedication before you would write something like that. You don't if he is dedicated or not. Just stop trying to be hardcore and answer his question.

thank you all for your help! thanks for the sleeping advice bb1fir and deby. I started doing lunges, boy do those burn! they've got to be doing something. Is about 30 minutes of playing basketball (not just shooting, running around playing 21) enough cardio? I don't have much energy at all so my endurance is terrible, i'm anemic, is there anything for that aside from taking iron?

Spinach and beef liver are foods rich in iron. I'm sure there are more, but those are the 2 that come to mind.
