Hey, I've been doing a program off of FT, and it has me working certain muscle groups only once a week, like chest and shoulders monday, back and biceps thursday, legs saturday......is a week too much rest in between working out a body part? because it seems weird that it will be a week before I will workout the muscle I had done that day.

Its's not weird at all. You will see some good gains in lean tissue by letting the muscle rest and recover for a week.
But, even thow you are not targeting the muscle until the following week, you can be sure it is getting worked secondarily while doing other groups.
Hope this makes sense.

That's very good advise. I'll just add to be sure to make every workout count. Realize that this is the only time this week that this particular muscle is going to get worked so really let that muscle have it. I continually keep this in mind during workouts to help keep me focused.

I too should heed some of this advise. I have certian muscle groups I'm really trying to focus on.. and when I'm at the gym I have the hardest time saying "no" to my favorite machines. (shoulders, deltoid, bicep) I'll try to use more disipline.
