I am not going to really endorse one product over another here, but I am going to endorse the type.

There are a certain group of gadgets out there that allow you to keep track of your calories in and/or calories out. I happen to own a Mio Shape (see review on it here that I wrote: http://www.epinions.com/content_97643302532 ).

In the same way my Palm Zire finally got my life organized, this little "strapless" heart-rate monitor/calorie counter that functions like a regular watch, has allowed me to keep accurate track of my calories.

Since I bought it, I've trained myself to never forget to enter anything. It takes about 10 seconds to enter calories. And as you set the watch up, you enter weight, age, rhr, and target calories for your diet. As you approach the "daily" limit, these little bars show up on the watch, sort of keeping you in check. If you go over, the thing flashes and makes all kind of noise. Very effective :D

It also measures heart rate by touching two sensors on the face of it. That's accurate from what I can tell; matches all the machines readings at the gym. You can also go into workout mode, wherein you touch the sensors for heart rate every so often and it keeps a running total of how many calories you burned so you can subtract that from your daily intake. You can even go negative.

(I've heard and read that no machine can accurately calculate how many calories you burn in a given activity, but what's wrong with a fair estimate?)

Just thought I'd share; by the way, this gadget is somewhat feminine looking in design, so you guys might be afraid of it...I don't care, nobody picks on me :D

Bottom line, just to say it, is that this gadget helps me to NEVER lose track of how many calories I've taken in in a day. You just don't forget when it's your watch, on your hand (it's like a constant reminder). For that reason alone, I recommend a product of this type for ALL you guys :D

I'm sold. Where did you get it and was it expensive? Sounds like one gadget that does the work of several. I'm all for lightening the load myself.

Did you buy on line or in a sports store? I would want to purchase something like that.

Interesting. I never knew there was such a thing. I'll have to see where I can find one.

I got mine off of E-bay I think...there are a few other strapless brands on the market. Read my review mentioned in the first post. Also don't pay too much; find low price/cheap or free shipping/1-year warranty. Good luck all ;)
