I have a question for you all. I am currently doing some pretty heavy weight training and At the facility that I am training at there is a hot tub, and a very cold swimming pool. My question for you all is:

1.) After strenuous training is there any harm advantages to soaking in the hot tub?

2.) Are there possible negative consequences from going from the hot tub (100 degrees) to the pool (58 degrees) after a hard workout?

3.)Can an extreme in change of temperature (hot tub to pool) help shorten muscle fatigue at all?

Really I have no knowledge of this subject, any help at all would be fantastic if anyone has any insight to this topic.

Thanks a bunch

Hello there and welcome!

After a hard work out it can be both good and bad to jump in a hot bath. I'll explain:

If you have been damaging your muscles by extremely heavy and hard weight training you can worsen things by adding another "hot" stress (inflammation).
But if you simply feel tired and exhausted after training (and no speficic pain), the heat can help your muscles to recover a lot faster and sauna, hot water, steam room, massage is a great remedy.

Changing from hot to cold will normally not cause you any problems and is great for the blood circulation.
