When I workout, I have been doing my strength training (upper body, one day ----lower body, the next), followed by 20 min. of HIIT. One of the trainers at the gym recently told me that I should do the cardio at the start of my workout to get my oxygen pumping, which would help me to maximize my strength training. Any opinions?

Well yes as a gently warm up before lifting ("to get the oxygen pumping") you should do 5-10 mins of cardio but noooo way a good idea to do HIIT before any weight training! Save that for after.

Thanks for the help gals. I wasn't even sure I could handle the HIIT, but have been able to do it for the past 2 weeks. It's a new challenge for me. From the looks of you Philia, you must know your stuff. Thanks again.
