Hi there everyone! I was wondering how much weight I should be using on the seated calf machine and the standing one. I am currently 165lbs but should be 125-130lbs.I am overweight with nothing for calf muscles. Please help.
P.s. I am currently under the weight loss and toning 8 week program.Thanks.

I would suggest using whatever weight you feel comfortable with, but have to work at to achieve your rep total suggested in the program. For eg, if you have 100lbs loaded for your calf exercise and can complete the reps suggested easily, then increase that load until you "feel the burn" near the end of the set (I like to burn for at least the last three reps). It becomes easier as you do more, because after you set your base weight you can begin at that weight next time and increase that weight as you become stronger.
hope that helps

i hate calfes for exercise... leg press, squats and big movements- deadlifts... they hit your calfes too(along with everything else) and are your mass builders, so more muscle= more metabolism= less fat.

anyway, back to calfes,, so for your body weight a good measure would aim to do ten reps at your body weight in time, start at 80 pounds and if you can do 15 reps, try 90 and so on. over time, when you hit that body weight target, then increase your goal by 1 to 2 pound a fortnight until satisfied..
