I started training when I was 14-15. At the same time, I hit a growth spurt and I got big really fast (no supplements, just lots of food). During puberty your body will release a lot more testosterone, so I'd say yes you would see a faster improvement - if and only if you maintain a good diet. Without the proper nutrition, you might as well forget about any significant gains.
