Hi... I am new to the program, but not to the "diet world" or exercise. I am an active person, but I just need a program to help balance me out. Anyway, I have recently started looking into daily vitamins and supplements. Don't know alot about them so I need your help...

What can you tell me about ephedrine? I have looked at products like Xedrine. Is is OK to take as long as you follow the directions and do not take an excessive dose? I need something to give me energy. I work behind a desk all day and I am in a "drag mode" when I get home to exercise. Any suggestions you can give me would be great! Thanks in advance.

Personally I would stay away from ephedrine. Why take the chance on it to shed a few pounds?

I am taking Xedrine EFX with is EPHEDRINE FREE. Just started and I do notice an energy increase and Iv been on it for only days. Many others have found EFX to be productive also in fat burning.

hope this helps.

I have tried everything on the market to give me energy. I would definently stay away form ephedrine, it is not good for you at all. It's like taking speed. been there done that.

I find that taking IRON in liquid or Royal gelly capsells are good as well as ginseng. I found these work well for energy and are harmful to the body. Good luck.. By the way it will take 2 - 3 weeks of taking one of these capsels to see it's working, but Iron in liquid is quick you should feel it within hours...

i have tried Xedrine and it did work nicely. i bet i dropped 5 pounds. however, there is a big dispute over products containg ephedra. the baseball player that just died was using it and they think that might be what killed him. might cause stroke and heart attack. i stopped using it. better safe than sorry.

I recently stopped taking a diet pill product that contained ephedrine and I would highly, highly recommend that you not take it. If you've already convinced yourself that you are going to take it, then i'm not sure that my words are going to help because I was in that position a couple months back before I started taking the pills. I heard numerous advice/warnings on not taking them, but i had already convinced myself it was the only way to 1) get more energy, and 2) lose weight/"get healthy"...

Wrong! It took me 3 months to realize that i was feeling increasingly worse, actually! In fact, once I had gotten "use" to taking them (meaning I had started excepting the fast heart beat, the sleepless nights, and the incredible mood swings), I found that a couple hours after taking the pills, I needed to drink coffee or some other caffeine just to keep up my energy. So, not only was I taking the regular dosage of diet pills a day, but I was also drinking 3-6 cups of coffee and/or diet coke containing caffeine. No wonder I couldn't sleep at night!

Basically, I had huge bags under my eyes, I was depressed, and on top of all of this;), I didn't even lose that much weight. Maybe a pound or two, tops. It wasn't worth it... I think the only thing that it actually did was suppress my appetite, but that was only because the pills tastes so nasty, i think!

To comment on your energy level, I would suggest drinking at least 8 cups of water a day, first off! And make sure you are aware of how many cups of caffeinate beverages you're drinking (for every cup of beverage containing caffeine, you need an additional cup of water)... Regular amounts of sleep contribute to your energy levels, as well. And I know that these two suggestions sound SO basic -- almost too basic to work/be true -- but, they do; they contribute enormously, I would say.

Another thing you might want to consider is doing a little bit of exercising in the morning... I know it almost doesn't seem feasible, but I've done my exercising primarily in the late afternoon/evenings for a long time now, and this past month, I recently switched to doing it first thing in the morning. And I don't do it for an hour -- i don't have time!=) -- but, it really does make a difference....

Anyways;), sorry this is such a long post! But, I don't think I would stand so adamently against ephedrine if not for these past few months... I wouldn't want anyone to go through what I went through... it wasn't worth it fit-n-trim, honestly.... good luck!

The magic ingredient in EFX is similar to ephedra and has the same effect on the body. I'm not sure EFX is any safer. Pseudaphed contains a synthetic form of ephedra and is FDA approved. Still I had benign heart palpitations from taking too much Pseusaphed combined with caffeine from coffee. I wasn't trying to lose weight--just relieve chronic congestion. If you try the Xenedrine EFX, pay attention to what your body tells you. Rapid pulse and palpitations are signs you should not take this drug.

Ephedrine is one of those supplements that you need to know how your body will react to it. Some people never have any problems with it, but some people do. I have used ephedrine for over a year, with no break. I have had absolutely no problem whatsoever. In fact my resting HR is 49 bpm and my BP is normal. I could even fall asleep on it. But that is me and not everyone else. Caution is key and knowledge is invaluable. But do not always beleive what the media says, in fact more people die from aspirin complications and allergic reactions to peanuts than ephedrine, so, just know the risks.

The drug methamphetamine (commonly known as "crystal meth") is mainly composed of ephedrine. It simply speeds up your heart rate, which is why when you take it, you feel more energetic. It also makes you lose your appetite, which is why that offer it as a diet pill.

Ephedrine is known to cause heat strokes, fainting, heart attacks, and sometimes brain damage. It has been banned by the NFL, NCAA, and many other major sports leagues.

Please don't take it. I used to. If you want more info, let me know.
My remedy for that afternoon slump/post lunch workout slump is a little green tea and some ginko bilboa. Then, about an hour later I have a little protein. Ginko is good for the brain. I work with people and crunch numbers all day, so it is always good to be on "up" side.

If u need an energy boost take a B-multi vitamin complex. That should boost you pretty well. And if u still need more: buy seperate b-12 vitamin pills.

I took hydroxycut(an ephedra containing pilk) for about a month and have had no severe problems. I did notice an increase in sweating that was unusual, i would sweat while sitting in a chair. But i lost about 10 pounds and feel fine. So like everyone says you just have to know how it will act on you.

I have been taking the Xenadrine pill which contains Ephedra for the last 2 years. I have lost 50 lbs while eating correctly and working out at least 5 times a week. I recomend Xenadrine as long as you consult your physician and get a history of your family health. It will work better than the EFX stuff, because the actually Ephedra is a huge difference than some kind of substitue. So in conclusion, only take this if you are serious about working out and eating correctly. Use this product at your own risk, and if you notice any severe symptoms, stop using it immediatley because it could cause long term effects. GOOD LUCK.
