I was just wondering if someone could tell me what exercise is good for toning the thighs. I work out at home and I don't want me legs getting to muscular I just want to tone them up and get rid of the fat on them.

Also I have extra fat on the area right above my butt. What can I do to get rid of that.

Thanks
Jeriwall

Unfortunately you cannot target areas for losing fat, but as far as toning goes it’s just a matter of finding the right exercises. You should sign up for the freetrainers.com home exercise plan. That should give you plenty of exercises to do to tone up and all, and you won’t get too big without doing massive weight training.

Hi jeriwall

As far as fat removal is concerned, sadly you cannot "spot" remove it from a specific area of the body. Fat will come off in a more general way - from all over the body as you workout and change your diet.

The good news is, that fat does come off! And as far as thigh toning - this site has many good exercises that are very well explained..try looking under exercise resources - specialized goals - thighs and glutes.

Good luck!!

jeriwall,

In the most recent Oxygen magazine there is an excellent toning routine for legs and butt. It is a fat-burning routine with lots of reps, very little rest, and it's TOUGH! It can be done completely at home with little or no weights. Get the magazine and give it a try! Also, would someone be kind enough to tell me how to reply without quoting the original message??

For those of you interested in the article in Oxygen, well, it's in the March issue of Muscle & Fitness Hers. Sorry for any inconvenience. I get both of these and got them mixed up!

Just some input for you to think about?

Get the lower body/BUTT TY-BOW tape, its great.
Also by doing lots of wide stance squats, and lunges, try doing 2 sets of 50-75 each while watching TV.
Any type of intense cardio work-outs will help also.
For me; Running at a fast pace is the quickest way to burn the fat. When I want to get realy cut (lose some extra BF, & make the muscles show) I do the following every other day between my strength workouts:
Jog for 1 mile, run hard for 3 miles, and then jog again for 1, or more miles. This takes me about 30-40 minutes.
I can lose about 4 lbs a week without changing my diet w/this program and get very noticeable results in 4 wks.
go for it-good luck

I read somewhere that walking level or slightly uphill helps to thin up rather than bulk up those muscles. I have the same problem, however, and I've never been able to narrow my thighs without losing at least 5-10 pounds along with toning.

The best way to loose fat is to build muscle and really watch your diet. Muscle is more metabolically active than fat so the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn per day. Diet is so important too. An entire workout can be completely negated by one candy bar or dozen wings.
